M.Sc. Nursing:

Aim:

The aim of the postgraduate program in nursing is to prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as nurse specialists, consultants, educators and administrators in a wide variety of professional settings.

Objectives:

On completion of the two years of the M.Sc. Nursing Programme, the graduate will be able to utilize/ apply the concepts, theories and principles of nursing science, demonstrate advanced competence in the practice of nursing, practice as a nurse specialist, demonstrate leadership qualities and function effectively as a nurse educator and manager.

Eligibility:

A Pass in B.Sc. (N)/ P.B.B.Sc (N) from any recognized institute/ university with minimum 55% (5% relaxation for SC, ST) and 1 year of work experience after registration from the concerned state nursing council.

PG Diploma:

Nurse Practioner in Midwifery:

Aim:

The aim of the Nurse Practitioner in Midwifery in the clinical and community setting is to provide competent care to the mother and neonate. The expanding role of nurses and advances in technology have necessitated additional training to prepare them for effective participation in midwifery care.

Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to train nurses to:

1. Provide quality care to mother and neonate.

2. Manage and supervise the care of the mother and neonate at all the three levels of care.

3. Teach nurses, allied health professionals, parents and communities in areas related to mother and neonate care.

4. Conduct research in areas of mother and neonate care.

Eligibility:

A Pass in B.Sc. (N)/DGNM with 1 year experience.

Emergency and Disaster Management:

Aim:

The expanding role of nurses and advances in technology have necessitated additional training to prepare them for effective participation in emergency and disaster situations.

Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to train nurses to:

1. Provide quality care in emergency and disaster situations.

2. Manage and supervise patient care in pre hospital and hospital settings.

3. Teach nurses, allied health professionals, patients and communities in areas related to emergency and disaster nursing.

4. Conduct research in areas of emergency and disaster nursing.

Eligibility:

A Pass in B.Sc. (N)/DGNM with 1 year experience.

Critical Care Nursing:

Aim:

The aim of critical care nursing in clinical settings is to provide competent care to critically ill patients. The expanding role of nurses and advances in technology have necessitated additional training to prepare them for effective participation in critical care.

Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to train nurses to:

1. Provide quality care to critically ill patients.

2. Manage and supervise care of critically ill patients.

3. Teach nurses, allied health professionals and family members in areas related to critical care nursing.

4. Conduct research in areas of critical care nursing.

Eligibility:

A Pass in B.Sc. (N)/DGNM with 1 year experience.

Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Nursing:

Aim:

The aim of orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing care in clinical and community settings is to provide competent care to patients with orthopaedic and neuro muscular disorders. The expanding role of nurses and advances in technology have necessitated additional training to prepare them for effective participation in orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing care.

Objectives:

The purpose of the course is to train nurses to:

1. Provide quality care to patients with orthopaedic & neuro muscular disorders.

2. Manage and supervise the care of patients with orthopaedic and neuro muscular disorders.

3. Participate in the rehabilitation of patients with orthopaedic and neuro muscular disorders.

4. Teach nurses, allied health professionals, parents and communities in areas related to orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing.

5. Conduct research in areas of orthopaedic and rehabilitation nursing.

Eligibility:

A Pass in B.Sc. (N)/DGNM with 1 year experience.
